A Business Case for Collaboration

We're keen to flip top-down, vague narratives and %'s into bottom-up, practical steps with empirical data. We've done this with the Laws of Engagement™ for you to practically improve your Engagement Coefficient (Ɛ), Collaboration Velocity (Cv) and Productivity (ρ). So that covers what's going on in the room but how about we extend that to shaping a Return on Investment (ROI) for collaboration in your workplace? Here are our high-level bullet points to make a start:

Activate Colleagues Quicker

Bringing forward the time that contributions are made from all members of the team. Multiply the cost of colleagues time by the difference in time that they are were able to contribute to an activity before improving the collaboration to after. Compounding this across the team it means more people doing more things at once. So multi-tasking in a good way with more action and fewer passengers!

Colleagues More Performant

For each colleague consider the benefit of broadening the horizons across the business. This kicks in when you collaborate across team boundaries and so the impact of the individual is more far reaching and impactful. This diversity will build strong relationships through which measures can be defined to capture the true value of these silo-busting connections.

Identifying New Opportunities

For each collaboraton session capture the amount of ideas and 'gems' (the really good ones!) as defined in the 2nd Law of Engagement™. With some housekeeping to sort and prioritise each opportunity can be developed as a mini-business case in itself. In the physical world this is done naturtally on the left-hand side of the Board. The Digital Kit offers a ready-made collaborative list shared across the team! As a result it's straightforward to identify, sift and focus as the basis for the business case.

Fewer Colleagues Leave

Who doesn't feel better when they become fully part of the effort to develop the business? Well, maybe those who didn't want to show up with their best selves and that's ok! *so we say fewer leave not no-one leaves. The flip-side is for those who do become immersed into the collaboration if means more people onside and feeling a part. That means fewer colleagues leave and you avoid the whole cost of replacing them. We can help you calculate the costs of this.

This is a sample of our line-items when it comes to bulding a business case around collaboraton. We can make this speciifc to your business starting with a quick chat to better understand your set-up,
